Clinical case
The patient had spacing in both arches, including a gap between the upper front teeth and small lower front teeth with multiple gaps. After treatment, the spaces were closed with porcelain restorations. Images are published with the patient's consent.

Causes of spaced teeth
- Small teeth relative to the jaw.
- Missing teeth.
- Low frenum attachment or tongue thrusting.
- Gum disease causing teeth to drift.
Treatment options
- Orthodontics: closes spaces while preserving natural tooth structure.
- Composite bonding: suitable for small gaps with little or no drilling.
- Veneers or crowns: change shape, size and colour; require some tooth reduction.
Gum disease should be treated first if it is the cause.
Note: Treatment indications and outcomes depend on each person's oral condition, general health and home care. This article is for general information only; an in-person examination is needed for individual advice.
